The purpose of the study is to understand the importance of employee engagement and to identify the issues and key drives related to engagement. An integrative literature review is done to fulfil the purpose of the study. To this effect, it has been found that the emotions of employees related to the organization and the work they do often make them engaged. Employees get engaged if they find the work fits their demands. In addition to this, organizational culture, feedback, training, developmental aspects of job etc., matters a lot for supporting employees to stay engaged. The unavailability of these factors often reduces employee engagement and affects organizational performance and image. So, it is suggested to provide supervisory support, participation in decision making, work autonomy, career development opportunities, healthy work culture etc., as some of the practices for fostering employee engagement. Employee engagement supports a sense of attachment towards the organization, helps achieve organizational goals, reduces attrition and counter-productive work behaviour etc.
Lipsa JenaSubash Chandra PattnaikRashmita Sahoo
